It seems as I enter the CCSS training I am looking for ways to protect the students caught in the middle of this transition.

Entering my first training day for the CCSS, this article strikes me.  

It is furniture that protects the students.

Assessing Creativity

When pressed into action, math skill should be creatively / selectively used to solve problems.  Identifying an underlying pattern to the numbers or cullling information for the material needed to start the process is part of Creativity.
